11th Trek MTB Tour of Ibiza 2011

The event will be staged on 22, 23 and 24 April, to coincide as always with Easter week. This year the TREK MTB TOUR OF IBIZA is transformed with a host of new features:

After a successful 10 years, The Tour takes a 360º spin, becoming more adventurous, more demanding (while still including options for all), a TRUE TOUR OF IBIZA, as its 3 stages will cover much of the island's geography. We have added new routes, including a spectacular northern zone, new ideas along, as ever, with the presence of our friends from TREK, who will be bringing their demo-tour to the island, allowing you to try out their bikes on Ibiza's finest tracks.

The major new feature will be the inclusion of the MAMMOTH 88K PAIRS MARATHON (IN IBIZA!!!) on Saturday, 23 April. This will be a challenging time trial in the same mould as the 88K MARATHON staged in the Madrid region. The brand new route will cover 88 tough, spectacular, eye-opening kilometres between Santa Eulalia and San Antonio, with pairs of contestants racing through the wilds of Northern Ibiza.

Further information on packages for participants, registration and schedules is available on the website www.ibizasport.com.

VISITA TEATRALITZADA

Mojito

The Mojito is a long drink alcohol rum-based. The origin of the Cuban drink was invented by bartender and Angel Martinez, a Cuban who ran the famous bar "La Bodeguita del Medio in Havana, which is said to have mixed up the cocktail to tire.

The name derives from the word voodoo Mojito "Mojo" which means "Enchantment."

Mojito ingredients are: twig of mint, rum dry silver or white paper, sugar, lime juice and sparkling water (or soda). Served cold, it tastes very bitter due to the combination of fresh mint and tastes very strongly of rum.

Keep in mind that a mojito served in a bitter winter could arise due to the mint, so it is important that the mind is fresh and of course all the ingredients are top quality. So it is best to consume the Mojito in the summer months when the mind is more mature and less harsh.

A small variation, beloved by Ernest Hemingway, is to mix two types of rum, the first clear aged 1 to 3 years and the second amber aged for a period ranging from 7 year
old.

Ibiza provides an excellent example of the interaction between the marine and coastal ecosystems. The dense prairies of oceanic Posidonia (seagrass), an important endemic species found only in the Mediterranean basin, contain and support a diversity of marine life. Ibiza preserves considerable evidence of its long history. The archaeological sites at Sa Caleta (settlement) and Puig des Molins (necropolis) testify to the important role played by the island in the Mediterranean economy in protohistory, particularly during the Phoenician-Carthaginian period. The fortified Upper Town (Alta Vila) is an outstanding example of Renaissance military architecture; it had a profound influence on the development of fortifications in the Spanish settlements of the New World.
