Ibiza Markets
Have you heard about Ibiza's famous Hippy market? It’s one of the island top attractions and a must-see for every holiday-maker. But that's not the only market you can visit, there are many happening all over the island so where ever you stay you can enjoy a fabulous shopping experience.
Ibiza has strong artistic roots going back to the early '60s when artisans, painters and designers flocked to the island to experience its unique atmosphere, light and freedom of expression. All this comes through in the markets held on the island where handmade items of clothing, jewellery and artefacts can be bought.
The biggest Markets are on Wednesday in Es Caná and on Saturday in San Carlos.
Below is a list of the regular summer markets that happen around the island. Each has its own unique atmosphere. Some major on local handicrafts, others bring you exotic jewellery, textiles and clothing from places such as South America, India and Indonesia. Shopping in Ibiza Town (Eivissa)
Not to be missed is nighttime shopping in the old Town of Ibiza. In the high season months (June until September), the shops in the port have their doors open until well after midnight. There is an amazing selection of the very newest and wildest fashions - everyone finds something special for the coming night out. Do take trip down La Calle De La Virgen (the street of virgins) the centre of a large and colourful gay scene, complete with S&M shops and piercing studios.
Many street vendors and stalls transform the port into a mini-hippy market after 21.00 hrs, selling throws, wraps, jewellery, clothes, souvenirs, music and much, much more.
Shopping in San Antonio, Ibiza (Sant Antoni)
Shopping in San Antonio is undergoing a quiet revolution. Souvenir shops (those typical of the 70's) are gradually giving way to quality merchandise, and the influence of young trendy clubbers is inspiring the opening of modern clothes shops with recognised designer brands.
